October 2008 Tactics Time Column: Pawn Stars

October 2008 Tactics Time Column

“The older I grow, the more I value Pawns.” – Paul Keres

The October 2008 Tactics Time has several problems where a pawn makes the winning move.

Problem 1 shows the pieces working together nicely.

Problem 4 is from one of my own games, and involves a very rarely seen type of move, which was fun to play.

Other motifs include: Perpetual Check, knight fork, and weak squares.

Players include Renard Anderson, Larry Wutt, Robert Rountree, Alex Torres, and more!
